About Reset Counselling & Psychotherapy in Barrie, Ontario
Reset Counselling & Psychotherapy is a team of Registered Psychotherapists, Registered Social Workers, and a Registered Nurse serving Barrie, and Simcoe County. We offer individual, couples, and adolescent counselling — in-person at our Barrie office, and virtually across Ontario. Our work is grounded in one belief: people have the capacity to heal. With the right therapist and the right support, real change happens. Whether you're navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship strain, or something harder to name, we're here to help you move forward.
What Makes Reset Counselling & Psychotherapy Different
Find a Therapist You Can Actually Connect With
The therapeutic relationship matters more than any single method. Research consistently shows that the fit between client and therapist is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes.
That's why we don't just offer therapy — we help you find the right therapist for your needs, personality, and goals.
Our Therapist Match Quiz walks you through a short set of questions and connects you with the best-fit clinician from our team.

Personalized, Evidence-Informed Care
No two people arrive in therapy with the same history, goals, or preferred way of working. Our therapists draw from a range of evidence-based approaches — selecting and combining methods based on what each client actually needs.
We consider your presenting concerns, your personality, how you process information, and what's worked or hasn't worked for you before. Therapy at Reset adapts to you — not the other way around.
A Team With Different Areas of Expertis
Our clinicians bring distinct specializations to the practice. Across the team, areas of expertise include trauma and EMDR, anxiety and depression, couples and relationship therapy, adolescent counselling, grief and loss, life transitions, neurodiversity, and self-esteem work.
That range means you're more likely to find a therapist who truly specializes in what you're working through — rather than a generalist who sees everyone the same way.

Who We Help
Individual Counselling
We support adults working through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, anger, self-esteem challenges, chronic illness, addictions, and life transitions. Sessions are available in-person in Barrie, and virtually across Ontario.
Couples and Relationship Counselling
We work with couples facing communication difficulties, conflict, disconnection, boundaries, betrayal, and relationship transitions. Our therapists help partners slow down the dynamic, understand each other better, and rebuild what matters.
Counselling for Teens and Adolescents
We offer therapy for teenagers navigating anxiety, depression, self-harm, social struggles, family conflict, identity, and academic stress. Our therapists who work with young people build genuine rapport — not authority, but connection.
Our Approach to Counselling and Psychotherapy
Therapy Built Around the Person, Not a Formula
Every client brings a different history, a different set of goals, and a different way of being in the room. From the first session, your therapist listens carefully — not to fit you into a protocol, but to understand your situation specifically.
We work collaboratively. Your goals shape the direction of therapy. Your pace determines how fast or slow the work moves. And when something isn't landing the way it should, we adjust.
Evidence-Informed Therapeutic Approaches
Our therapists draw from a range of approaches with strong clinical evidence. Modalities represented within our team include:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) — identifying thought patterns that drive anxiety, depression, and avoidance
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) — trauma processing that works with how memories are stored in the nervous system
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) — a structured trauma-focused approach for PTSD
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) — exploring different parts of a person's inner experience
- Somatic and trauma-informed approaches — incorporating body awareness alongside talk therapy
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — building psychological flexibility and values-based action
Not every therapist on our team practises every modality. We'll match you with a clinician whose specific training fits your needs.
A Safe, Collaborative Therapeutic Relationship
Everything shared in a session stays confidential. Your therapist is there for you alone — and the space is designed to feel low-pressure, honest, and genuinely supportive.
If the fit doesn't feel right, we'll help you find someone on our team who suits you better. Therapist fit matters to us as much as it matters to you.
Professional Standards You Can Trust
01
Registered and Accountable Mental-Health Professionals
Our psychotherapists hold active registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Our social workers are registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Both are regulated under provincial legislation — meaning our clinicians are bound by professional standards of practice, ethical codes, and accountability to their respective Colleges.
When you work with a member of our team, you're working with a regulated professional — not simply a counsellor operating without oversight.
02
Continuing Education, Consultation and Clinical Quality
Our therapists maintain ongoing training, participate in peer consultation, and receive regular clinical supervision. This isn't a checkbox — it's how we stay current in a field that keeps evolving.
New research on trauma, anxiety, and relationship therapy emerges regularly. Our team engages with that research. Clients benefit from clinicians who are genuinely growing in their practice, not just maintaining it.
Counselling in Barrie, and Across Simcoe County
Our office sits in central Barrie at the intersection of Essa Road and Anne Street, close to Highway 400. Free parking is available on-site. The space is clean, private, and accessible — with a waiting area where you can settle in before your session.
In-person sessions are available at this location. Virtual sessions are available for all service areas.
Serving Orillia, Innisfil, Bradford, New Tecumseth and Simcoe County
Clients connect with our therapists from Innisfil, Bradford, New Tecumseth, Angus, Midland, and communities throughout Simcoe County. Depending on your therapist and your needs, counselling is available at one of our two offices or virtually anywhere in Ontario.
We do not have physical offices in these communities — but distance is not a barrier to getting support.
What to Expect When You Start Therapy With Reset
Step 1: Find Your Therapist
Start by browsing therapist profiles or taking our Therapist Match Quiz. The quiz considers your concerns, availability, and preferences — and recommends the clinicians from our team most likely to be a strong match. There's no pressure and no commitment required to browse.
Step 2: Book Your First Session
Once you've identified a therapist you'd like to work with, book directly online through our Jane booking system. No referral is required to book. Some insurance plans ask for a referral for reimbursement purposes — it's worth checking your specific coverage before your first session.
Step 3: Build a Plan Together
Your first session is not a test. It's a conversation. Your therapist will ask about your story, what's been difficult, and what you're hoping therapy will help you with. Together, you'll identify goals and agree on a therapeutic direction. If the fit feels off at any point, we'll help you find someone on our team who suits you better.
