Kyleigh Wells | Registered Psychotherapist
You do so much to help others, let me help you for a change.
When you feel like work is following you home, I’m here to help you reset.
Working in a caring profession can be draining and it can be easy to take on other people’s suffering. After being raised by first responders (police officer and nurse) and working for many years as a Paediatric ICU nurse, the reality of burnout and PTSD are all too familiar. When you give so much of yourself, you can sometimes lose yourself.
I’m here to help you hold your ground and set appropriate boundaries. First Responders, including healthcare professionals, correctional officers, and more, see many things at work that may be hard to process. Decisions you have make on the job may not sit well with you morally. It might be hard to talk about work with people close to you. These experiences can have a profound impact on your life. You don’t have to carry those burdens alone. Let me help you heal so that you get unstuck and move forward.
I am passionate about helping those who serve our community. Whether you’re seeking therapy after experiencing a trauma, or wanting maintenance therapy to equip you for rough days, I am here to walk alongside you. Using evidence based therapies, including CBT and CPT, I can help you establish goals and process emotions and events so that you can get on with your life.
I am a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). I am being supervised by a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) and I can provide RP receipts (please check your benefits). I draw from Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and other modalities in my practice.
I support adolescents 14+ and adults who are seeking help.
Our individual counselling sessions move at your pace. Together we can:
Explore patterns that may be contributing to burnout, moral distress and more
Use CPT and evidence based tools to address PTSD
Strengthen communication and boundaries
Develop practical tools for managing anxiety and emotions
Practice relaxation and grounding techniques
What can you expect if you work with me?
I believe that the people who give the most to others often struggle the most to ask for help themselves. My approach is grounded, compassionate, and built around the reality of what it means to work in a caring profession — where the weight of other people's suffering can quietly become your own. Raised by first responders and shaped by years working as a Paediatric ICU nurse, I understand burnout, moral distress, and trauma not just clinically, but personally. That background is at the core of how I show up for the people I work with.
I work with individuals experiencing challenges related to:
- First Responder & Healthcare Professional Support
- Trauma & PTSD
- Burnout & Moral Distress
- Chronic Illness
- Caregivers
- Loss of a Family Member
In our work together, we'll move past the bandaid fixes and get to the root of what you're carrying. Using evidence-based approaches including CPT and CBT, I'll help you process the events and emotions that have been keeping you stuck — so you can establish clear goals and move forward with your life. Whether you're seeking therapy after a specific trauma or looking for ongoing support to stay grounded through a demanding career, you don't have to carry this alone. I offer in-person and virtual sessions for adolescents 14+ and adults.
Sessions are $170 (no tax) for 50 minutes. To reach me directly, email kyleigh@resetbarrie.ca
