Counselling Support for Bradford Residents — In Person in Barrie or Online Across Ontario

A Barrie-Based Therapy Clinic Serving Bradford and South Simcoe

Reset Counselling & Psychotherapy is based in Barrie and serves clients from Bradford, Bradford West Gwillimbury, and communities across South Simcoe and Simcoe County.

Bradford sits within the broader Simcoe County region, placing it well within the communities we regularly support. Residents of Bradford West Gwillimbury can access our full range of services — in person at our Barrie office or virtually, from wherever they are in Ontario.

Wherever you are in South Simcoe, professional therapy is accessible.

Choose In-Person or Virtual Counselling

We offer two straightforward ways to access care.

In-person sessions take place at our Barrie clinic: Unit 201–151 Essa Road, Barrie, ON. It's a private, calm space where you can settle in, slow down, and focus entirely on the work ahead. Many clients value the structure and connection that comes with showing up in person.

Virtual sessions are available to clients across Ontario. Using a secure video platform, you can meet with your therapist from home, your car, or anywhere that feels private and comfortable. Virtual care removes travel as a barrier — particularly helpful for Bradford residents managing busy schedules or mobility limitations.

Many clients use both formats depending on the week. We make it easy to choose what works for you.

Counselling Services Available to Bradford Clients

Individual Counselling for Anxiety, Depression, Trauma and More

Individual psychotherapy gives you a dedicated space — and a skilled, trained professional — to work through whatever has been weighing on you.

At Reset, we support adults and teens navigating a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Anxiety and chronic worry
  • Depression and persistent low mood
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Grief and loss
  • ADHD and attention-related challenges
  • Chronic illness and chronic pain
  • Life transitions and identity shifts
  • Self-esteem and self-worth

Sessions are tailored to your goals, your pace, and your history. You don't have to arrive with a diagnosis or a clear sense of what's wrong. Many people start simply knowing that something needs to change.

Couples Counselling and Relationship Therapy

Couples come to therapy for many reasons. Some arrive after a significant rupture — broken trust, an affair, or a painful conflict that left both partners unsure how to move forward. Others come after a slow drift: the gradual distance that builds when two people stop truly connecting.

Our couples therapists work with communication difficulties, emotional disconnection, recurring conflict, rebuilding trust after infidelity, and the strain that major life transitions place on a relationship.

Each partner is heard. Our role is not to take sides — it's to help you both slow down, understand the patterns between you, and build something more secure.

Teen and Adolescent Counselling

Teenagers benefit enormously from having a space entirely their own — somewhere outside the home and school where they can speak freely and be heard without judgment.

Our therapists who work with adolescents support concerns including anxiety, school stress, social difficulties, self-esteem, family conflict, identity questions, emotional regulation and grief.

We work with teens and young adults. Availability for younger children and family therapy is more limited and handled on a case-by-case basis — please reach out directly so we can discuss what would work best for your situation.

Common Reasons People in Bradford Start Therapy

  • Anxiety, Depression, Stress and Burnout

Anxiety and depression are among the most common reasons people seek therapy — and both respond well to treatment. We support clients managing constant worry, low mood, burnout, emotional overwhelm, social anxiety, and self-esteem challenges. Therapy helps you understand what's driving these patterns and build the coping skills to respond differently. Many clients notice meaningful changes within the first several sessions.

  • Trauma, PTSD, Grief and Chronic Health Challenges

Not all difficult experiences leave visible marks — but they leave marks. Trauma, unprocessed grief, bereavement, and the emotional weight of living with chronic pain or chronic illness can shape how you see yourself and the world, often without you fully realising how much.

Therapy creates a space to process what has been carried — carefully, at your pace, with proper support.

  • ADHD, Emotional Regulation and Life Transitions

Adult and teen ADHD often shows up as difficulty with executive functioning, emotional regulation, follow-through, or a persistent sense of falling short despite real effort.

Life transitions — career changes, relationship shifts, becoming a parent, losing a role that once defined you — can also destabilise a person's sense of identity and direction. Therapy helps you find solid footing during periods of significant change.

  • Relationship Issues, Anger, Addictions and Other Concerns

Other concerns our clinicians support include anger management, relationship difficulties outside of couples work, addictions, self-harm, social anxiety and self-esteem.

Availability varies by therapist. When you book or reach out to us, we'll connect you with someone whose training and experience align with what you're working through.

Therapy Approaches Used at Reset Counselling & Psychotherapy

CBT, DBT and ACT for Practical Skills and Behaviour Change

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you identify thought patterns that fuel anxiety, depression, or avoidance — and respond to them differently. It's structured, practical, and well-researched.
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) builds skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness — especially useful for people who experience emotions intensely.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focuses on clarifying your values and building psychological flexibility, so that difficult thoughts and feelings have less power over your choices and actions.

Trauma-Informed Therapy, EMDR, CPT and IFS

For clients working through trauma and PTSD, several evidence-based approaches are available depending on the therapist and their specific training.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) processes traumatic memories at the level of the nervous system, without requiring detailed verbal retelling.
  • CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) works with the beliefs that form around trauma — particularly around blame, safety, trust, and self-worth.
  • IFS (Internal Family Systems) explores the different parts of a person's internal experience with curiosity and compassion rather than conflict.

Not every therapist at Reset offers every modality. Therapist profiles will reflect current training and areas of practice.

Relational, Person-Centred and Mindfulness-Based Approaches

No two clients arrive at therapy with the same story, the same goals, or the same relationship to the process. Our therapists draw from multiple approaches and tailor the work to fit you specifically — your concern, your communication style, and where you are right now.

Mindfulness-based approaches support self-awareness and emotional resilience. Person-centred therapy builds the kind of therapeutic relationship where real work becomes possible.

Why Bradford Clients Choose Reset Counselling & Psychotherapy

Care From Regulated Mental Health Professionals

Reset's team includes Registered Psychotherapists (RPs), Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying), and Registered Social Workers (RSWs).

Registered Psychotherapists are regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Registered Social Workers are regulated by the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Both designations carry professional standards, ethical obligations, and ongoing accountability.

This matters. When you work with a regulated professional, you have access to a formal complaints process if needed and confidence that your therapist meets a defined standard of training and practice.

Our team also commits to ongoing clinical training and peer supervision — because good therapy requires therapists who keep growing too.

Find a Therapist Who Fits Your Needs and Goals

The quality of the relationship between you and your therapist is one of the strongest predictors of good outcomes in psychotherapy. That's not a minor consideration — it's central.

At Reset, we want you to find someone you genuinely connect with. That means matching around the specific concern you're working on, the therapeutic approach that fits how you think and learn, your availability, and whether you prefer virtual or in-person care.

Our therapist-match quiz is a simple starting point. You can also read full profiles, watch therapist videos, and listen to podcast clips before you ever book a session. We'd rather you take a little time to choose well than rush into a fit that doesn't hold.

What to Expect When You Start Therapy

Your First Counselling Session

Your first session is a conversation, not an assessment. Your therapist will listen to what brings you in, ask questions about your history and current situation, and work with you to get a sense of your goals.

You don't need to arrive with a polished summary. You can speak at whatever pace feels right. By the end of the session, you and your therapist will have a general direction — and the understanding that therapy is a process, not a single appointment.

For couples, each partner meets separately with the therapist during the intake process.

How Often You May Attend and How Long Therapy Can Take

There's no single answer to how long therapy takes. It depends on your goals, the concerns you're working through, how often you attend, and how things evolve over time.

Most clients attend weekly or bi-weekly, particularly at the start. Some concerns resolve with a focused short-term course of therapy. Others benefit from longer-term support. Your therapist will check in with you regularly to make sure the work continues to feel useful and relevant.

Confidentiality, Scope of Practice and When to Seek Urgent Help

Everything you share in therapy stays confidential, within the limits set by professional and legal standards. Your therapist will explain those limits clearly in your first session.

Reset does not provide emergency or crisis services. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 9-1-1. For suicide crisis support available 24/7 across Canada, call or text 9-8-8.

Our therapists do not diagnose or prescribe medication. If you require a formal psychological assessment or prescription, your family doctor or  psychologist can assist with those needs.
